Melling pottery was born in 1872 with the arrival of scottish potters in the village of melling in england. Pottery then helped create jobs for many people in the region. It was once run by edward service who made this small business one of the largest in lancashire (england county). The pottery was finally bought in 1922 and abandoned pottery in favor of the manufacture of jam jars. In 1929, the pottery was definitively destroyed by fire.
