Rosewood Stamped Secretary, Transition Style – 1900

Rosewood secretary stamped with a brand on the back leg. It opens with a drawer at the waist, veneered in butterfly wings, equipped with ring handles with a mask. Below, the drop-down front, veneered in a developed style, is enhanced with an original lock featuring scrollwork and key. When opened, this drop-down, mounted on hinges, is covered in dark brown leather with corner pieces, vignettes, and a cold motif. The interior, also in rosewood, offers six small drawers with a faceted lens knob, a central space, and a fixed shelf. This piece features, at the bottom, a double door, inlaid in the same style, with an authentic lock, entries, and key. The lamp base is adorned with a bronze motif of acanthus leaves and a soup tureen. The front legs, partly moulded and highlighted by bronze drops with rosette and acanthus leaf decorations, are shaped with cabriole feet fitted with openwork hooves. The whole is topped with a projecting and grooved marble.
