Curved Louis XV style secretary with floral marquetry – Marble

Very beautiful Louis XV style writing desk with a curved front entirely decorated with rich floral marquetry and scrolls. The piece is made of precious wood arranged in a frieze, featuring an important floral marquetry composition that extends over the drop front and the two doors of the lower section. The different wood tones create a particularly refined decor. It is topped with a molded marble surface in pink and veined tones. The uprights are adorned with gilded bronze, which can also be found on the feet and at the lock entrance. The drop front reveals a particularly well-organized interior including several small drawers, compartments, and storage spaces. The writing surface is covered with red leather, highlighted by a gilded frieze. An interesting and uncommon feature: a secret compartment is hidden under the leather writing surface, accessible by lifting the inner part of the top. The lower section opens with two doors providing access to a storage space with a shelf. A decorative and functional piece, offering a very beautiful presence thanks to its abundant marquetry, curved shapes, and gilded bronze fittings.
