A Chinese blue and white lobed dish from the Kangxi period (1662–1722), probably c. 1700–1720. In the centre a flowering peony tree with a rose branch behind a low garden fence with rocks. The moulded, lobed rim has reserved flower panels alternating with narrow panels, in the tradition of kraak porcelain. On the reverse flowering branches and on the base a flower mark in a double circle. Bright, layered cobalt blue on a bluish-white glaze: typical Chinese export porcelain for the European market. Condition: Several chips and frits on the lobes of the rim and a hairline crack running from a rim chip into the wall. A few iron specks and kiln grit in the centre, normal for the period. No restorations seen.
