A fine Chinese blue and white lobed dish from the Kangxi period (1662–1722), probably c. 1700–1720. In the centre a gnarled tree with clusters of peonies, a lily and a flowering branch behind a garden fence with capped posts. The moulded, lobed rim has reserved flower panels alternating with narrow panels, in the tradition of kraak porcelain. Reverse with flowering branches, on the base a flower mark in a double circle. A fine example of Chinese export porcelain from the heyday of blue and white. Good condition; no hairline cracks or restorations visible; a few minuscule frits on the rim, small irregularities on the foot ring and kiln grit, iron specks and a slight discolouration on the left of the centre.
