Renovated antique bench, late 19th - early 20th century

Here is an authentic antique bench from the late 19th or early 20th century, a character piece with a charm patinated by time. Its solid wood top, carved from a single board with rounded edges, offers a soft and organic line, far from the rigidity of later benches. Its curved, tapered legs, hand-carved and connected to the top by a scrolled console cut with a blade, testify to a careful rural cabinet-making craftsmanship - a level of work that is no longer found in utilitarian furniture produced from the industrialised 20th century. Each leg, slightly different from the other, recalls the artisanal and unique manufacturing of the object. The wood of the seat displays a deep amber patina, warmed with reddish reflections, which can only be achieved after several decades, or even a century, of use and life. The small holes and marks left by former wood-boring insects have been treated, but their traces have been deliberately preserved, like a signature of time and the authenticity of the piece. With its generous length of 175 cm and low height of 41 cm, this bench finds its place at the foot of a bed, in an entrance to welcome shoes and bags, under a window as a banquette, or even as a repurposed coffee table in a living room. A timeless piece, it fits into any type of interior, bringing a touch of history and sought-after raw material. Fully renovated, this bench has been carefully sanded, treated against wood-boring insects, and then protected with a clear matte varnish, preserving its original patina while ensuring excellent durability.
