Footrest bench, church kneeler
Here is a lovely church footrest bench that was mainly used for kneeling in prayer, hence its name kneeler. It probably dates from the early 20th century and its beautiful patina attests to its age. It is made of solid wood. I have cleaned it thoroughly, then treated it against woodworm by brushing and injecting white vinegar (this is my natural method to replace chemical insecticides). I then applied a very light coat of liquid antique wax. It is in generally good condition, sturdy but does not hide its age: there are numerous woodworm holes, various marks, and at one end, a chip of wood and a remnant of the slat that probably served to join two benches together. It measures 111 cm in length, 10 cm in width, and 13 cm in height. I have a second one for sale here, and I have also listed the lot of two.
