Art Nouveau buffet – Nancy School – Around 1900

Art Nouveau sideboard – École de Nancy – Circa 1900. Imposing Art Nouveau dining room sideboard, in the style of the École de Nancy, made from natural wood and burl, offering very beautiful warm tones and particularly refined decoration. The façade, with an architecturally composed and perfectly balanced design, opens with four doors and two drawers. The panels of the doors are highlighted by remarkable burl wood with very decorative grain patterns. The central section is enhanced by a beautiful carved decoration of flowers and foliage, characteristic of the naturalistic vocabulary of Art Nouveau. This ornamentation continues on the central post and in the upper frieze. The metal handles and lock entries harmoniously complete the ensemble. The upper part is topped with a significant bevelled mirror in the shape of a half-moon, framed in carved wood, giving the piece a strong presence. The various interior compartments are fitted with storage shelves, offering substantial capacity. A spectacular piece due to its dimensions, the richness of its woods, and its floral decoration, representative of the major French productions of Art Nouveau around 1900. Period: circa 1900.
