Wedding wardrobe painted in folk art

Here is an exceptional wedding cupboard from the popular art of south-eastern Germany (Fichtelgebirge). Its uniqueness lies in its minimalist painting with harmonious colours. The dominant colour is ochre yellow, enhanced by beautiful shades of red, brown, and green, giving it a warm atmosphere. Dating from around 1850, this cupboard is still in good condition for its age. The paint is patinated and worn, but the cupboard remains clean and perfectly functional for everyday use. Only the feet have been replaced; otherwise, the piece is entirely original. The interior layout includes a rail and a shelf, with the possibility of easily adding more. In the past, it was customary to gift this type of wedding furniture to newlyweds. These cupboards were then stored in a rarely used exhibition room of the farm, except for important visitors or special occasions. A magnificent testament to the past.
