Superb set of 6 antique nesting trays, dating from the late 19th century, originating from the British colonial period in India (British Raj). A piece for a cabinet of curiosities, combining decorative elegance and genuine heritage value. Each tray is finely carved from solid rosewood (Indian rosewood), known for its density, nobility, and the richness of its patina. Over time, the wood has developed a deep and warm hue, enhancing the reliefs and artisanal finishes. The whole is elevated by delicate marquetry work, adding rhythm and refinement to the composition. The series includes 6 perfectly nestable sizes, the largest measuring 30 cm in length. The set is preserved in its original condition, without modern restoration. It shows the natural traces of time, some old missing inlays in the corners, as well as a drying crack on the bottom of the largest tray. These alterations are consistent with its age, without compromising its solidity or overall aesthetic.
