Two large ancient Tuareg trays made of camel leather – Mali / Niger. Remarkable set of two handcrafted nesting trays, consisting of a wooden structure entirely covered in camel leather, including handles and edges. Their rich burgundy leather is richly adorned with geometric and symbolic patterns, crafted by hand through embossing and engraving. The beautiful sheen of the leather and its ancient patina highlight the quality of this traditional Tuareg craftsmanship. Personally acquired in Africa in the 1990s for my private collection, these trays come from the border region between Mali and Niger. Estimated dating: first half of the 20th century. The small tray fits into the large one. Their generous dimensions make them superb presentation pieces on a table, desk, or sideboard, as well as an original wedding or housewarming gift. Dimensions: • Large tray: 50.3 × 40.3 cm. • Small tray: 38.2 × 28 cm. Condition: good antique condition, with a beautiful authentic patina. Signs of use, superficial marks, and small irregularities related to age and artisanal work. Set sold as is, including both trays. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
