Provençal Bread Basket

Provençal bread bin in walnut with a front-opening door, resting on four tapered legs. The upper part is topped with a cornice known as a "gendarme's hat." The front and sides, which are openwork, are adorned with a succession of turned spindles. The lower part and the shelf are also openwork with slats. Finally, the back is made of three panels of fir. The back of the bread bin is equipped with two hooks for hanging. The door operates with a functioning key lock; it is noted that the key is slightly bent and that the door has a slight misalignment, but this does not prevent it from closing. Overall good condition, with the patina noted as "worn" on the right side and the cornice having a bit of "play" on the left side. French craftsmanship from the late 19th century.
