Bread basket

Superb Provençal bread cabinet for storing and preserving bread. Characteristic of France from past centuries, the bread cabinet was an important regional piece of furniture until the early 20th century, when bread, a staple of meals at the time, was often prepared only once a week and therefore needed to be stored under the best conditions. Made of turned wooden columns to allow air circulation and better preservation of loaves of bread, it can be placed on a low buffet or hung against a wall. The front is equipped with a door through which the housekeeper could introduce or take out the bread; free delivery possible in the Touraine region.
