Beautiful antique mahogany book mill, exceptionally nice quality book mill from the famous english 19th century furniture maker maple & co. With the characteristic cast iron base. Beautiful lived-in appearance. Origin: england, ca. 1900. Size: 49cm X 49cm X h.86cm. The maker maple & co was  by the end of the victorian period (c. 1880) the leading manufacturer of quality furniture in the world. The company has furnished, among other things, tsar nicholas's winter palace, the hofburg palace in vienna, all major english embassies around the world, countless country houses and large hotels. Everyone important towards the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by maple & co. The quality and craftsmanship of these furniture is exceptionally beautiful.
