We are delighted to offer for sale this superb and very rare open library/cabinet in pollard oak, stamped A Blain & Son Liverpool, dating from around 1840, Victorian era. A very beautiful and rare piece, pollard oak is highly sought after and was used by the finest furniture makers. This piece bears the stamp on the top of one of the doors A Blain & Son Liverpool, representing Arthur Blain, a cabinetmaker established in 1835 in Liverpool. The library features fully adjustable upper shelves to accommodate almost any size of books. This piece is best suited for a refined English-style library. In terms of condition, the cabinet has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom, with many signs of patina due to its authentic age and honest use, as well as some small losses to the carved ornaments. Dimensions: height 221.5 cm, width 89 cm, depth 50.5 cm. Please note that all measurements are taken at the widest point. The condition is good, showing wear consistent with age and use, with slight fading.
