Victorian library in hand-carved hardwood

We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally large and grand Victorian display bookcase, made of hand-carved mahogany. This bookcase is one of the most spectacular pieces of furniture I have ever seen; the sculpture at the top is simply exquisite, with the crown and floral garlands intricately carved from a single solid piece of wood, and the lace above is separate and can be removed. You can store an entire library in it, as all the shelves are removable. We have thoroughly cleaned, waxed, and hand-polished it from top to bottom; apart from the normal patina marks associated with age and honest use, the piece is in very good condition. It even features glass panels on the sides to view the displayed items from the side, allowing light to enter pleasantly. Dimensions: Height: 298 cm, upper section only 177 cm, lower section 121 cm, Width: 133.5 cm, Depth: 66 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouse. Condition: Please refer to the detailed photos that are part of the description regarding the condition. Please note that for vintage and original items such as leather seating, natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear is normal. Regular waxing is recommended to prevent moisture loss. It is also advised not to expose hand-dyed leather to direct sunlight for long periods as it may dry out and discolour.
