This charming wall-mounted coat rack with metal structure and 8 red, yellow and green lacquered wooden balls reminiscent of billiard balls is an icon of 1950s design and will remain fashionable until the 1970s, before come back today. In the vein of “hang it all” by charles eames published by the herman miller company and the “clé de tre” standing coat rack by roger féraud, it will be available in numerous versions, then reissued again and again! This one does not seem to me to be a later copy, the balls are in lacquered wood as in the original. It has a bracket on each side, each has two holes for fixing to the wall. It is in good structural condition, very solid, the welds are intact. But it does not hide some signs of its 60 or 70 years: the metal had some gaps in the original black lacquer, I chose to repaint it (in black) then I applied a thin layer of matte varnish. The balls are in good general condition, not split but had numerous lacquer gaps, so I chose to make some touch-ups to the paint (red and yellow), which remain visible (yellow paint not exactly the same color, thickness of the red paint is not identical), there remain numerous marks, discolorations or discolorations, scratches. I applied a very thin layer of glossy varnish to the balls. One of the upper branches was deformed, it leans more forward than the others, but I preferred not to touch it so as not to risk damaging the weld. It measures 62 cm in length, approximately 18 cm in width, approximately 11 cm in depth and weighs approximately 700 g.
