Richly carved display furniture – Top opening onto white marble

Richly carved display cabinet – Top opening to white marble – 19th century. Very beautiful display cabinet in richly carved and moulded wood, featuring particularly decorative architecture inspired by Renaissance furniture. The upper part of the front opens with two drawers, adorned with relief sculptures and fitted with beautiful drop handles in bronze. The central section features two doors richly carved with wide scrolls and leafy motifs, framed by architectural uprights. The sides are particularly remarkable for the presence of two female figures sculpted as caryatids, resting on consoles with leafy decoration. The cabinet rests on two substantial turned feet at the front and has a large open shelf at the bottom, giving the whole piece an elegant and imposing silhouette. An interesting feature is that the upper top opens to reveal a surface in white marble, with the raised top potentially serving as an additional shelf or display. Beautiful quality of cabinetmaking and sculpture, with a warm patina that particularly highlights the various reliefs and the grain of the wood. A decorative piece of character, ideal for an antique interior, a library, a cabinet of curiosities, or as a display piece. Period: 19th century. Dimensions: Height: 96 cm. Width: 101 cm. Depth: 48 cm. Good overall condition, with signs of use and possible restorations consistent with its age.
