Set of 4 brown 209 chairs, Ligna, 1970s
The B9 / 209 chair, also known as the Wiener Stuhl, was designed around 1900 by J & J Kohn/Thonet. The chair became well-known as a favourite of French designer Le Corbusier and featured in his interiors. These quality chairs were produced around the 1970s by Ligna (in what was then Czechoslovakia), a former, post-WWII nationalised Thonet factory. Marked 'Ligna'. The chairs have a warm brown colour and are in good condition with normal signs of age and use. All 4 chairs have a new (2026) hand-woven rattan seat in the original style. Dimensions may vary slightly due to the production method and the properties of bentwood (steam-bent wood). Height armrests (in the middle) approx. 72 cm.
