Étienne Martin, known as Étienne-Martin, born in Loriol-sur-Drôme on February 4, 1913, and died in Paris 13th on March 21, 1995, is a major French sculptor of the 20th century. He was elected to the Académie des beaux-arts on June 17, 1970, in the Sculpture section. The motif with the U-shaped black pipes/structures, white arrows, and the three flat areas of red/green/petroleum blue is very characteristic of his research from 1973-74 around Dwellings and symbols of channeling/passage. At that time, Étienne-Martin produced several lithographs in the same spirit at Mourlot / Ateliers Guillard in Cachan.
