Very nice globe signed J. Forest, early 20th century, featuring ocean currents. A rotating model on a blackened wooden stand, with a structure made of boiled cardboard and a printed paper covering in colour. The structure is in generally good condition, the map shows signs of use, with some taped areas (see photos). Joseph Forest was a French geographer and cartographer. In 1886, he founded his publishing house for maps and plans, world maps, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, charts, and wall maps for education at 17-19, rue de Buci in Paris, and resided at 1, place du 13 octobre in Bagneux. A supplier to schools since 1889 and approved by the Ministry of Public Instruction, he also included a pocket globe in his catalogue. Appointed as an advisor for foreign trade of France in 1912, he regularly followed the work in this role, which he continued in 1922.
