We are delighted to present this important buffet, restored around 1750, featuring a marble top, inlaid with kingwood, adorned with polished silver fittings, fully stamped by Germain Landrin, 1710-1785. It is a museum-quality piece, exceptionally rare and highly decorative. The marble top has a unique patinated finish, almost like flint. The silver fittings are well polished and patinated, likely made of tin. The main body is composed of kingwood, walnut, tulipwood, and other tropical woods. It has an unusual function, identical on both sides, with two large drawers accessible from both sides and a metal piece positioning the drawers in the centre. The sides have two cupboards with original oak shelves that are missing, with the possibility of recreating them for free. There are old restorations with replacements of small veneers, repairs to the marble, cleaning and polishing of the metals, light sanding, and a shellac finish on the main body. There are some minor losses to the metals. Dimensions: height 91.5 cm, width 110.5 cm, depth 73 cm (measured at the widest point). Germain Landrin (1710-1785) was a main supplier for the cabinetmaker Pierre II Migeon and others. The piece is available for collection in Wimbledon. Condition: Good, repaired, wear consistent with age, slight discolouration.
