Pair of antique candlesticks

Magnificent pair of antique metal candlesticks with a silvered patina. Late 19th century (Napoleon III / Belle Époque period), around 1880-1900, these items were highly valued for their resemblance to high-quality silverware while being more accessible. Richly worked Rococo-style decoration with typical Louis XV motifs of scrolls, acanthus leaves, and shells. Weight: 520 g per candlestick, over a kilo for the pair. This density offers excellent stability and a substantial feel, far removed from lightweight reproductions. Superb overall aesthetic condition with a lovely patina of time. Note some signs of use that attest to their authenticity: a small chip on the silvered plating at the base of one candlestick and a slight crack at the bobeche. Height: 24cm Width of base: 10cm.
