4 French modernist chairs with a sober and architectural aesthetic, in the spirit of the artisanal brutalist furniture from the 1950s/60s, reminiscent of the work of Pierre Chapo and Charlotte Perriand. Structure made of probably sipo, afromosia, or African mahogany exotic hardwood, featuring a superb deep and warm reddish-brown patina. The wood is particularly dense and heavy, indicating high-quality craftsmanship. The design is distinguished by: A slightly curved solid backrest, Subtly curved uprights, A massive base with minimalist lines, And very beautiful compact and balanced proportions. The seat made of natural fibre woven with thick strands offers remarkable graphic and artisanal work. The weaving is in excellent condition and fully contributes to the sculptural character of the piece. Each chair has an old metal plate stamped "VB G1", probably a workshop mark or manufacturing reference. A chair with a strong decorative presence, ideal for a brutalist, wabi-sabi, or minimalist interior. Dimensions: Height: 85 cm. Width: 41 cm. Depth: 42 cm. Seat height: 45 cm. In very good vintage condition with patina and signs of wear consistent with its age. One repair on a leg of one chair. Rare and uncommon pieces in the market for French modernist furniture.
