Iconic wingback armchair model 2204 with its matching footrest model 2202, designed in 1963 by Børge Mogensen and manufactured by Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark. Mogensen is one of the great figures of Danish modernism; his clear and sincere furniture combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless functionality. With the 2204, Mogensen translated the classic English wingback chair into a refined Scandinavian formal language: the high backrest and distinctly shaped wings provide a sense of enveloping comfort, while the slender solid oak legs with a square section add lightness to the chair. The armchair and footrest are fully upholstered in a brown-red leather that has developed a beautiful warm patina over the decades. The removable seat and back cushions are filled with down. Both pieces bear the original manufacturer's label from Fredericia underneath the seat. The original leather has been cleaned, re-dyed in places, and treated with UV protection. The original upholstery has been checked by our upholsterer, and the down cushions have been refilled. The oak legs have been cleaned. Condition: very good vintage condition – magnificent original state without significant signs of use. The original leather shows natural creases, slight discolourations, and discreet age-related marks that highlight the character of this classic. An iconic set for discerning interiors. Dimensions of the armchair: approx. 69 × 88 × 106 cm, seat height 43 cm (width × depth × height) Dimensions of the footrest: approx. 58 × 58 × 43 cm (width × depth × height)
