Tied with a golden knot Very large antique French mirror from the 19th century, in Louis-Philippe style, made of gilded wood, adorned with a large cartouche in the shape of a finely carved knot. This beautiful antique French mirror in gilded wood features the typical rounded upper corners of Louis-Philippe mirrors. Louis-Philippe mirrors, with their clean lines and versatile shape, are a popular choice in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The mirror retains its original glass as well as its wooden back. The glass shows slight oxidation (foxing). The original gilding of the frame is beautifully patinated, giving it a lot of character. The frame is structurally sound and the glass is still in very good condition. The frame has some minor imperfections, as one would expect for a piece of this age and use, but this does not detract from its charm. In many cases, we do not know the previous owners of the mirrors we sell. For this mirror, we do know: we retrieved it ourselves from a wonderful brothel near Carcassonne, in the south of France. It is rare to know the exact history of a mirror and to find such a well-preserved example.
