Antique silver-plated metal teapot in neoclassical style inspired by the Empire, likely dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century. Its spout, sculpted in the shape of an eagle's head, is the most remarkable feature of this piece. Finely chiseled, it displays particularly detailed plumage, a wide-open beak, and very expressive modelling, showcasing the quality of its execution. This tripod teapot rests on three curved feet ending in lion's paws. Its lid is topped with a finial in the shape of a pine cone, and its body has an elegant baluster silhouette. The decoration consists of beaded friezes, a frieze of lanceolate leaves, radiating shells, and floral rosettes, characteristic of the Empire decorative repertoire. The underside bears a manufacturer's mark composed of the initials "A & F" inscribed in an oval cartouche, separated by a stylised representation of a bird. The inner edge of the lid bears a second mark depicting a stylised bird within a cartouche, while the interior of one foot bears a stamp "Mᵉ AVERSENG". These markings have not been definitively attributed. In very good condition. The silver plating is well preserved, with a lovely shine. It shows only discreet micro-scratches from use, which are normal for an antique piece. The interior has a uniform patina from use. The teapot is perfectly stable, and its hinged lid functions flawlessly. Dimensions: – Height: 30 cm. – Length (including handle and spout): 20 cm. – Maximum diameter: 11 cm. Weight: 650 g.
