Exceptional Rustic Farmhouse Folk Art Painted bridal wardrobe 1784

Exceptional antique painted bridal wardrobe from Austria, dated 1784. A special piece because of its rich folk art decoration and striking use of colour. The painted panels feature characteristic motifs, including trees of life, a Sacred Heart, and atmospheric village scenes. The wardrobe has been restored in the past and was originally demountable. To ensure sturdiness, the piece has now been fixed. The interior is fitted with shelves and a clothes rail. Lockable with the original, impressive lock. The wardrobe shows occasional old woodworm traces, but has been fully checked and treated. A very characteristic and rare piece of furniture with rich decoration and beautiful historical appearance.
