Jacques robert william zadig, born 1930 in paris, is a swedish painter, draftsman and graphic artist. Zadig studied at the essem school in malmö, the royal danish academy of fine arts in copenhagen and the royal academy of arts in stockholm, and through self-study during trips to france, spain and italy. He received the ellen trotzig scholarship, the skåne art association scholarship, and a major state grant in 1966–1967. He exhibited separately at malmö town hall, galerie leger in stockholm, krognoshuset in lund and at sveagalleriet in stockholm. He exhibited with ulla borgström at lilla konstsalongen in 1955 and exhibited with knut grane at the staffanstorp art gallery. He was an active exhibitor at exhibitions of the skåne art associations in malmö.he participated several times in the young artists exhibition at the national museum in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as the spring salon of the swedish general art association in stockholm and the stockholm salons at the liljevalcha art gallery 1964–1967. Together with gerhard nordström, he was represented at the group exhibition de otäck at the art gallery in lund in 1968. His art is characterized by political and social commitment. In expressive images, inspired by, among others, the atomic bomb over hiroshima and the vietnam war, he presented horrific images of war, destruction and human suffering. His works also include landscapes made in oil, pastel, gouache or in the form of drawings and graphics. Zadig is represented at stockholm's modern museum, british museum, nationalmuseum library of new york, muséu de arte sáo paolo, kalmar art museum, postal museum, malmö museum, museo de la solidaridad salvador allende.
