Glazed faience cup by Paul Fouillen, Quimper, featuring hand-painted decoration typical of the workshop, combining graphic swirls and radiant patterns in a deep blue, ochre, and black palette on a cream background. Cream interior. Low and generous shape, with a full and well-defined handle, and continuous decorative work around the entire rim. The contrast between the blue areas, brown punctuations, and structured ochre frieze gives the piece a true visual presence, very representative of Fouillen's decorative explorations around the 1940s. Signed underneath the base Paul Fouillen (1899–1958), Quimper ceramist. In beautiful vintage condition, with a shiny glaze and cream interior. Two tiny chips on the edge of the handle (see photos). Length including handle 11 cm, diameter 8 cm, height 6 cm. Signature piece, a visual anchor in a demanding decor where material and motif take precedence.
