Very beautiful impressionist work by the french painter louis azéma (1876-1963). Oil on panel. Dimensions: 38 X 55. 57 X 73.5 with frame. Louis azéma, born in agde on may 24, 1876 and died on january 10, 1963 in montmorency (val d'oise), was a french painter and singer. He was admitted in 1892 to the ecole des beaux-arts in montpellier then, after a year of study, he joined the ecole des beaux-arts in paris. A pupil of gustave moreau, françois flameng and fernand cormon, he exhibited at the salon des artistes français in 1911, 1912 and 1921 and won the gold medal in 1921. He was then hors-concours. Toulouse will mark the artist's achievement, becoming honorary president of the salon des artistes français and the salon des artistes occitans. He was made a knight of the legion of honour (1925). He is buried in père lachaise cemetery (26th division). The state acquired several of his works. The musée agathois jules baudou holds fifteen of his paintings. The museums of sète, toulouse, montpellier and béziers also preserve works by this artist.
