Statue sculpture virgin woman in black ebony wood

This very pretty statue is surrounded by mystery that is difficult to unravel. I have done some research, but I have not acquired any certainty, so if you have any information, I would be very interested to learn more about it. For the wood (darker in reality than in the photos), it would be ebony, which is a very dark wood, almost black, sometimes with a slightly lighter grain as is the case here (not very visible in the photos, but we can clearly see a dark chocolate grain). And a very dense, very heavy wood, the statue weighs almost 1.6 kg! A soft wood to the touch too: given the marks, I imagine that it has not been sanded much and yet the touch is very smooth. For the sculpture, it was made by hand, with rudimentary tools, we can see the marks around the face, the base is slightly skewed. Only the face is detailed, so it is difficult to be certain that it is a religious sculpture, the virgins are often represented with their hands joined. Perhaps of malagasy origin but without certainty there either. Under the base, the letter d is written in white paint, but is it a signature or a marking of a previous owner. It would date from the 70s or before. It is in good general condition, no major cracks (small very superficial cracks on the top of the head) but has various marks that testify to its age or its previous lives and some of which are very probably original: small scratches and marks of blows or tools. And also a mark of a fall: a chip (in two parts) on the base has been glued back together, it is not excessively visible. It measures 37 cm in height, 9 cm in width at the body, the base not really round measures about 9 cm in diameter.
