Superb anthropomorphic bottle vase in glazed ceramic, representing a stylised silhouette (probably a woman) with hands on hips forming the handles. It recalls Picasso's work during his time in Vallauris at the Madoura workshop. An authentic piece of folk art, entirely hand-painted with geometric and botanical patterns in cobalt blue and manganese brown. It is signed with a monogram (JLD?) and dated 1941 or (1991?) at the base on the back. Dimensions: 29 cm in height, 11 cm in diameter at the widest point, 3 cm at the neck. Condition: generally good vintage condition with a very nice shine and a beautiful texture of the glaze. To note for transparency: a fine chip at the neck, another very fine one at the base, and slight rubbing on the bottom (visible in the last photos), which remain very discreet once the object is displayed. Presence of manufacturing defects (firing defects): slight cracks are visible under the junction of one arm. Folk art, anthropomorphic vase, ancient pottery, vintage ceramics, signed 1941, woman vase, glazed terracotta, antique, rustic decor Vallauris Picasso Madoura Derval.
