Little is known about Salomon's life. Originally from the Var region, André Salomon spent much of his life in Saint Tropez. A self-taught painter, he stands out for his work with oil paints, which he worked with a knife. He often painted seascapes, spent his life in the port of Saint Tropez, and traded his paintings for food or a little money. A great friend of the Melchio/Perrona family, he gave them many paintings throughout his life. Louis Baldoni kept them, and his grandson, Philip Janin, inherited them.
