Large carved and gilded mirror – Rococo decor – 20th century. Very important carved and gilded wooden mirror, featuring a spectacular decorative composition inspired by Louis XV / Rococo style. The frame, particularly rich, is entirely animated with scrolls, acanthus leaves, curls, and finely carved leafy motifs. The upper part is topped with an imposing openwork pediment with a symmetrical decoration of scrolls, centred on a floral motif in the shape of a basket or bouquet, and finished with a large upright leaf. The lower part also features a remarkable openwork decoration of large leaves and scrolls, resting on a straight moulded base. The sides are abundantly carved, giving the whole piece a particularly elegant and monumental silhouette. The old gilding, with its nuances, wear, and visible repairs, has a beautiful patina and perfectly highlights the depth of the sculpture. The old glass shows pitting, alterations, and signs of oxidation, particularly visible in its upper part, characteristic of its age and contributing to its decorative charm. A mirror of very beautiful presence, ideal above a large fireplace, a console, or simply placed on the floor in a classic or contemporary interior. Period: 20th century. Style: Louis XV / Rococo.
