Louis XV period mirror in gilded wood and stucco, 18th century

Louis XV period mirror (circa 1750), made of carved and gilded wood, featuring finely executed ornamentation typical of the Rococo style. The mirror, slightly weathered and pitted, is originally mercury glass. Upper pediment: decorated with a basket of fruit (grape bunches and vine foliage), a symbol of abundance and fertility, a very popular motif in the first half of the 18th century. Frame: hand-carved decoration of volutes, foliage, shells, and acanthus foliage in an asymmetrical composition typical of Rococo. Gilding: with beautiful original patina. Lens: antique mercury mirror, pitted, not replaced. Back: antique solid wood paneling. Overall good condition, in its original condition, with some missing gilding, minor repairs, and missing parts, all visible in the photos. Dimensions: 66 x 90 cm.
