Icon of design, the Oyster chair (model F157), designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in the late 1950s, perfectly illustrates the transition between functional rigor and organic lines. We offer here an authentic pair, preserved in their original fabric, an extremely rare fact. This textured woven wool covering, typical of Artifort's production in the 1960s, features a warm tobacco brown hue. We notice a few pulled threads in one spot on the seat of one of the chairs that can be repaired. Designer: Pierre Paulin. Publisher: Artifort (Netherlands) Model: Oyster (F157) Period: 1960. Materials: fibreglass shell, chrome tubular steel base, original woven wool covering. Colour: tobacco/camel brown. Condition: very good vintage condition - original fabric preserved, signs of use consistent with age, note on one seat (pulled threads, see photo).
