19th Century Botanical Lithograph of Pink Hedge Bindweed, c.1853

Original 19th-century botanical lithograph depicting Calystegia sepium var. Incarnata, a pink-flowering form of hedge bindweed. The print comes from Flore des Serres et des Jardins de l’Europe, the influential botanical periodical published in Ghent by Louis van Houtte from the mid-19th century onwards. The series documented ornamental and exotic plants cultivated in European gardens and greenhouses and is known for its finely detailed botanical illustrations and rich colour printing. This plate dates from around 1853 and was produced using lithographic printing with colour applied in the characteristic botanical style of the period. Professionally framed at Kunsthandel Het Grachthuisje in Lisse, the Netherlands, in a green and gilt wooden frame with wide off-white mount. The print itself is in very good antique condition.
