Set of 4 sm05 dining chairs by cees braakman in black. Pastoe edition from the 1960s. Very comfortable chairs thanks to their ergonomic shape and thick cushions. The original cushions have been reupholstered in a light green fabric, which provides a beautiful contrast with the black metal. The legs have been refurbished (by powder coating, a very strong industrial coating). The seats are in their original finish with signs of use and some paint touch-ups. Some threads have been professionally re-welded. The design of herman miller and knoll chairs certainly influenced the design of the sm05 by cees braakman in the early 1950s. After world war ii, building materials were scarce and steel wire proved to be a cheap and strong material for making chairs. The chairs were very successful and became fashionable among young families who aspired to modern furnishings. Seat height +/- 45cm with cushions.
