Charming fine earthenware plate from the famous Saint-Clément earthenware factory, dating from the 1920s. The decoration is entirely hand-painted: a large central bouquet with a blooming tulip, blue and yellow flowers, surrounded by small scattered florets. The whole is framed by a blue border with a slightly scalloped edge. The back bears the handwritten inscription "St Clément PD 21", probably the initials of the decorator and the date. Some sources mention a painter named Pierre Dubois, active at the factory from 1917. St Clément is a Lorraine earthenware factory active since the 18th century, known for its hand-painted decorations, particularly at the beginning of the 20th century. The floral style is typical of the decorations created between 1910 and 1930, in a spirit still influenced by traditional Lorraine floral decorations (with a naturalist touch). Beautiful condition, very shiny, no chips or cracks. Diameter 24 cm. A fine example of interwar Lorraine earthenware, both rustic and refined.
