Description
Period: ca. 1900 this beautiful bowl-shaped vase has a white iridescent surface with a meshed vein structure created by fusing crushed glass onto the surface. The iridescence leans towards a golden hue. The appliques look like coral and have different shades of iridescence like an oil stain. This bowl is unsigned, but can be attributed to loetz; this vase would fall into the category of decoration known as astglas with coral (corallenaste). The loetz-witwe factory was run by the widow of j. Loetz and was one of bohemia's (now the czech republic) largest glassmaking companies. Condition: good. A coral has a blunt end, but this defect is so small that it is visible only when pointed out. Dimensions: 9 cm in height, 11.5 cm in diameter.
