Curved blackened wooden coat rack attributed to Michael Thonet, from the late 19th century to early 20th century. By comparison with old documentation and published examples, this model corresponds to model M.30 from the Gebrüder Thonet catalogue of 1888, reissued as model no. 1 in the Thonet catalogue of 1904. It features all the characteristics of this iconic model: a head with eight double hooks in curved wood, a central crown forming an umbrella or cane stand, a lower part with secondary hooks, and a base with four curved legs. This type of furniture was intended for vestibules, hotels, cafés, and bourgeois interiors around 1900. It is now an emblematic piece of bentwood furniture, particularly sought after for its elegance and decorative presence. Circa 1900. Good condition.
