Bronze stair or chenet ball

I think it's a "stairball" but i'm not sure... It could also be a bedside head. It is made of gilded metal, it seems to me that it is bronze, because it is heavy for its size and no trace of blue corrosion (so absence of copper, so it is not brass), the metal is patinated at will, with various spots and marks but no deformation (very thick metal). The screw thread must be within 1.3 mm, difficult to measure accurately. It is 6 cm tall, 4.5 cm larger in diameter and weighs about 120 g.
