This seat, likely intended for an important person, embodies the Ming style, known for its strict proportions and sculptural forms, entirely carved from solid wood. This chair is surprisingly dynamic despite its "boxy" shape and offers great comfort. Marked by its original oxblood varnish, it is a piece of great originality and beautiful patina, ideal for Wabi-Sabi style decor. Originating from China, made between 1700 and 1800, it is in good condition with wear consistent with its age.
