6 baumann bistro chair 30s

Suite of 6 bistro chairs in curved wood. At baumann, model no. 104, produced only from 1932 to 1939, is one of the very first models with "striped" backrests in a range called "half-armchairs". The lot bears a model of stamp "walter baumann" used precisely from 1930 to 1934 and was therefore manufactured between 1932 and 1934. It is rare to find them compared to models n ° 84 and 108 (produced until the 50s/60s) with 3 or 4 bars but with narrower backs, less "square" and overall less and less cossus as we move away from the art deco period. This edition of n°104s also benefited from the side reinforcements (optional with supplement at the time, see ext. Catalogue.) --- lot in its juice of trouvaille, lacquered, patina of lived, tawny brown tint typical of art deco taste. Massive chairs, dense wood (they weigh almost double those of the 50s), archi-robust and stable.
