Hand-painted ceramic vase circa 1955 by the Ceramic Art Department of the Harsa Pottery in Beersheba, Israel. The vase is an early example of his design work and is considered quite rare. The vase is in excellent condition, except for a very slight old restoration, visible in the last photo. Height: 24 cm. Upper circumference: 8 cm. Lower circumference: 11 cm. Nehemiah Azaz, also Nehemiah, Henry, or NH Azaz (9 October 1923 – 27 October 2008), was a sculptor, ceramicist, and architectural artist who spent half of his working life in the United Kingdom. Best known in Israel as the founder of the Harsa Ceramics Art Department in Beersheba, Azaz established his studio in Oxfordshire, England, in the late 1960s, working in stained glass, wood, concrete, bronze, brass, copper, and aluminum. Azaz founded and directed the Harsa Ceramics Art Factory and Training School between 1955 and 1959.
