Large vintage silver-plated tray with a floral design in Art Nouveau style L4

Large silver-plated serving tray, probably from the 20th century. Rectangular shape with rounded corners, moulded border with a row of beads, and a fully decorated background in relief. Flowers, foliage, scrolls, and curved lines compose a decor in the Art Nouveau style. This decorative vocabulary reflects the plant motifs and characteristic curves of Art Nouveau, a movement that developed in Europe around 1890-1910, although this does not allow for a precise dating of the tray. In the absence of an identified mark, no manufacturer or more precise dating can be attributed to this piece. The dense relief, the patina of the metal, and the areas of oxidation create beautiful material effects and enhance the reading of the decor. It can today be used as a serving or bar tray, or as a support for glassware, candlesticks, and other objects. Dimensions: length 46 cm; width 34 cm; height 1 cm. Weight: 2 kg.
