Diamond 421 armchair designed by h.bertoia for knoll international. Harry bertoia is mainly known for his unique bronze sculptures, but during his career he had several furniture episodes, e.g. Working with such design icons as charles and ray eames and eero saarinen. Bertoia conducted some of the first ergonomics research at a naval engineering laboratory between 1947 and 1950. There he learned to design furniture based on the human structure, which led to the creation of a light wire chair whose seat adjusted to the sitting figure. The chair is made of many small rhombuses and this is also the shape of the whole chair [diamond]. The designer wanted to capture an organic form referring to the cellular structure. The armchair is made of steel wires, the top is painted white and the bottom is black. The armchair is comfortable and very spacious to sit in. The armchair is in very good condition, it has minor scratches. Dimensions: height - 77 cm. Width - 85 X 65. Seat height - 40.
