With its sculptural silhouette, perforated decor, and subtly nuanced beige glazing, this lamp base attributed to Georges Pelletier immediately evokes the free and deeply artisanal world of the French ceramist. A piece with a gentle yet singular presence, where the material seems almost alive under the light. For over half a century, Georges Pelletier has been working with clay in a uniquely recognisable style. Trained in a very free artistic environment inspired by the pedagogy of Célestin Freinet, whose phrase beautifully summarises the spirit: "I take the only path that seems possible to continue the work that is my whole life, " he developed a personal language early on that blends sculpture, turning, and the manipulation of light. His creations from the 1960s and 1970s are distinguished by their radiant patterns, their assemblies inspired by Accolay techniques, and this very organic approach to ceramics. The model presented here perfectly illustrates this aesthetic: a simple and structured form. We have chosen to pair it with a lampshade entirely custom-made by a talented artist from Perche. Dressed in woven natural fibre, it perfectly dialogues with the mineral texture of the base and adds a warm and contemporary dimension to the whole. A meeting between the craftsmanship of yesterday and current creation. A piece full of character, ideal on a console, bedside table, or in an interior with wabi-sabi, modernist, or Mediterranean accents. Very good vintage condition.
