Magnificent glazed terracotta lamp base with a rich hand-painted decoration, a pretty green enhanced with black lines on an ecru background. It does not bear the safi label, but by comparing the earth, the patterns of the decoration and the color with ceramics bearing the safi label, there is little room for doubt, for me, it is a ceramic that comes from the safi region in morocco. It has a "perforated cap" (fairly hard material) to receive a lamp socket and a perforation at the bottom to pass the cable through. I don't know if it's original, but it's rather original, because if you find a lot of safi vases, the lamp bases are rarer. But given its pretty, very slender, very elegant shape, it will also be magnificent as is, placed on a piece of furniture for an ethnic and natural touch in your interior. It may date from the 60s or 70s. It is in good overall condition, no cracks or chips, just a few chips on the mouthpiece and a small chip in the enamel, barely visible in the middle of all these patterns, at the level of the belly, as well as the patina of age: fine cracks on the enamel. It measures 34 cm in height, approximately 15 cm in diameter.
